Venusaur leverages Chlorophyll to double its Speed under Charizard Y's Drought, turning a normally slow Pokemon into a fast attacker that can go before most of the metagame. Modest nature and near-maxed Special Attack are amplified by Miracle Seed, which boosts Energy Ball by 20 percent on top of STAB. Sludge Bomb adds Poison STAB coverage and a poison chance, while Earth Power covers Steel and Fire types that resist Grass and Poison. HP and minimal Speed investment provide enough bulk to take a hit before Charizard mega evolves.
