Choice Scarf Tyranitar trades the usual bulky Mega Tyranitar plan for a speed tier opponents rarely play around. Jolly with maxed Attack and Speed lets Ice Punch snipe an unsuspecting Garchomp, Knock Off move before Basculegion, and Rock Slide catch Charizard off guard, all threats a slower Adamant spread would miss outright. Sand Stream still supplies the team's permanent weather so Houndstone and Excadrill keep their Sand Rush advantage regardless of Tyranitar's own set, making the Scarf a genuine surprise factor rather than a downgrade from the standard Mega Tyranitar sand-setter role.
