Mega Tyranitar is the central win condition and the reason the team functions. Sand Stream activates Sand Force on Mega Steelix and gives Tyranitar passive Special Defense bulk under sand. Jolly with max Speed and max Attack lets it outspeed key threats after one Dragon Dance, with the transcript noting plus two as a key benchmark and plus three as insurance against Tailwind. Rock Slide spreads flinch pressure against both opposing Pokémon while Knock Off removes items and provides strong Dark coverage. The team is built around getting two to three Dragon Dances off thanks to Sneasler Fake Out, Rotom-Wash support, and Sinistcha cycling.
