Talonflame provides Tailwind speed doubling and a second Quick Guard, giving the team two independent sources of priority protection. Its special attacking build with 28 SpA and Charcoal is intentional: with Intimidate common in the meta, a physical set would be weakened before it could act, while special Fire Blast is unaffected by Attack drops. Timid with 32 Spe maximizes Tailwind setup speed, Gale Wings grants priority to Flying-type moves in a pinch, and Air Slash rounds out the coverage against Fighting- and Grass-types that threaten the sand core.
