Starmie runs Timid nature with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment for maximum offensive pressure, with Focus Sash guaranteeing at least one attack even against priority or super-effective moves. Natural Cure removes status conditions upon switching out, providing passive cleansing that pairs well with the team's limited status removal. Psychic targets Poison and Fighting types, Ice Beam covers Dragons and Grass, and Scald provides a secondary Water STAB with a burn chance. Protect is standard doubles tech to scout and stall. Starmie fills the team's need for a fast, specially offensive late-game cleaner when Ceruledge has been checked.
