Staraptor is the team's speed control and immediate knockout button, running Choice Scarf Final Gambit to remove a Pokemon on turn one before Trick Room even needs to be up. Jolly nature with maxed HP and Speed maximizes both its Final Gambit value and its ability to outrun unboosted threats before Trick Room flips the order. Brave Bird, Close Combat, and U-turn give it a way to keep pressuring or pivot out if the Final Gambit trade looks bad, such as into Focus Sash users or bulky Ghost types. Paired with Farigiraf, the goal is a Final Gambit trade into an immediate Trick Room setup.
