Raichu is Gyarados's best partner. Lightning Rod negates Gyarados's Electric weakness entirely while on the field, removing one of the most common checks to Water types. Fake Out flinches a target on turn one to gift Gyarados a free Dragon Dance, and Nuzzle inflicts paralysis to lock down fast threats for multiple turns. Timid with 32 Spe outspeeds almost everything before Tailwind. Focus Sash guarantees it survives one hit to execute its support sequence. Volt Switch lets it pivot out safely once its job is done, cycling back to fresh teammates.
