Friend Guard reduces ally damage by 25%, adding passive bulk to the whole team. Careful nature with heavy SpD and HP investment makes Maushold resilient against special attackers trying to break through the redirection. Chople Berry patches the Fighting weakness. U-turn allows Maushold to pivot out after redirecting, and Feint breaks Protect on the turn Hawlucha needs a clean hit.
