Gholdengo runs Nasty Plot to compensate for Make It Rain's Special Attack drop and to threaten sweep potential alongside Tailwind or sand speed control. Good as Gold blocks all status moves and redirects, enabling safe setup against passive defensive cores. Modest nature over the original Timid improves damage output, and the HP-weighted spread maximizes Leftovers recovery while reaching enough Speed to outpace standard Basket Legion variants. Shadow Ball provides Ghost-type spread pressure against the same Basket Legion and Banette cores, and the combination of Ghost and Steel coverage is difficult for most teams to answer without committing a dedicated check.
