Mega Barbaracle is the team's central win condition, using Shell Smash to reach devastating Attack and Speed levels after Mega Evolution. Adamant nature with maxed Attack at 32 SP ensures Rock Slide and Close Combat secure one-hit knockouts across most of the metagame at plus two. The 15 Spe investment lets it outpace important benchmarks even before Shell Smash, while minimal bulk in HP, Def, and SpD gives it some survivability before setting up. Sniper amplifies the damage of critical hits. Protect buys a free turn when Weavile or Incineroar uses Fake Out to create safe Shell Smash opportunities.
